INTEGRATIVE BODY|MIND THERAPY

• comprehensive pain and trauma recovery •

Physiologically, there is no separation between body and mind.

Our bodies are a network of systems.

I support the whole system to help people fully  reconnect to themselves.

My sessions integrate multiple modalities to help release acute or chronic pain and restore healthy function, whether it's from physical injury or emotional trauma.

I have found that most lingering or non-healing challenges involve a combination of stored tension at a tissue or fascial level, neurological and nervous system dysfunction, and cognitive and behavioral stress patterns. If there is a history of childhood trauma, nervous system dysregulation can often be suppressed an entire lifetime, and suddenly brought to the surface by an overwhelming stressful event.

At the foundation of all my work, I am focused on addressing the root of the issue, to discover the underlying trauma patterns or restrictions that might be contributing to pain. Because I work holistically, many of my clients recover healthy function and movement, and feel more empowered in their lives.

My main focuses are chronic pain, acute injury, developmental trauma (pre-natal, birth, early childhood, attachment), and nervous system dysregulation.

For 8 years, I suffered from debilitating chronic pain after being rear-ended while driving my scooter. After a year passed with little improvement, the doctors couldn't find anything "wrong" with me (i.e nothing was broken), so they diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. The prescriptions I tried didn't really help without completely knocking me out, so I became desperate to find a cure, even though they told me there was no such thing.

My priority in life became health and wellness, and I researched and experimented with a lot of different doctors, therapies, nutritional protocols, types of exercise, and drastic lifestyle changes to see if anything could make me feel better. After years passed without significant changes, I felt completely helpless and terrified that I was going to live the rest of my life suffering from constant pain which left me bedridden most of the time. Eventually my path led me to start receiving, and then studying Craniosacral and Polarity Therapy, which is when I stopped having chronic pain.

From there, I studied nervous system regulation through Somatic Experiencing, ancestral connection through Family & Systems Constellations, psycho-trauma integration through Identity Development Constellations, functional health restoration through osteopathic manual therapy trainings, and flow, productivity, and lifestyle shifts through coaching trainings.

I discovered my life's passion in studying holistic health and personal development, and it has become my mission to research and integrate diverse therapeutic perspectives to find real answers to the questions we have about how our bodies and minds really work. I believe that we can overcome trauma and pain to live more expansive lives.

In my opinion, holistic health is about understanding that medicine can come in all different forms. It is about each individual finding the medicine that works for them, whether it is allopathic, naturopathic, or shamanic to name just a few. Every body is different. I fully encourage people to explore and discover what works for them, and I'm honored to be a part of that process with them.

BACKGROUND & TRAINING

I am a non-binary, queer, Korean adoptee, who came to the US at the age of 6. I had a strong liberal arts education, and was pre-med in college. Though I was capable academically, when it came down to it, realized that there were many things I did not agree with in the medical institution, so I took a pause from academia. When I returned to college, I graduated with a BA in Art and a Minor in Business (Cum Laude Honors College: University of Texas at San Antonio). I'm proud I went back to complete my degree and enjoyed my experience greatly.

However, I have since learned that traditional academia is not the only way to receive a valuable education.  I studied and assisted Integrative Craniosacral Unwinding and Polarity Therapy classes with Gary Strauss at IPSB (School of Integrative Psycho-Structural Bodywork) and Life Energy Institute and have been teaching there for 3 years. As of Oct 2023, I have over 3000 classroom hours combined study, teacher assisting, and teaching hours in massage, bodywork, osteopathic manual therapy, energy medicine, somatic trauma resolution, flow, and identity development.

I currently hold monthly Constellations circles, facilitate trauma healing workshops, and teach Craniosacral & Polarity Therapy trainings at my office space in Pasadena, online, and at IPSB. I highly value creating spaces & offerings for bipoc & queer folk in the healing arts.

TESTIMONIALS

I think the most transformative part of this was just being able to vocalize everything and pinpoint what my issues are and how they're manifesting in my body.

Knowing that makes me feel like I have more power over them and I think having tools like, knowing I can lay on the bed and scream or use aromatherapy to calm my nerves are super helpful.
